    Thu, 18-Dec-2025

Within the framework of Egypt Vision 2030 for achieving sustainable development, and in line with the strategy of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources in the field of corporate social responsibility where education stands at the forefront as a fundamental pillar for building human capacity and enhancing community development Chemist Hesham Riyad, Chairman and Managing Director of the Egyptian Ethylene and Derivatives Company (ETHYDCO), inaugurated the Zohour Al-Maarefa Primary School development project in Al-Amriya.

The inauguration was attended by Mr. Araby Abu Zaid, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Technical Education in Alexandria Governorate, and Ms. Amal Mabdi, Executive Director for Resource Development at Misr El Kheir Foundation.

The development works included a comprehensive upgrade of the school’s infrastructure, through the renovation of classrooms and their provision with new furniture and modern educational equipment, rehabilitation of science and computer laboratories, establishment of a modern library, and support with advanced educational tools that keep pace with digital education developments. The project also included advanced training programs for teachers, in addition to supporting student activities that foster innovation and creativity, positively reflecting on the quality of the educational process for more than 500 male and female students.

The opening ceremony was also attended by Eng. Ayman El-Garem, Chairman of ELAB Company; Eng. Reham Effat, Chairman of Alexandria Petroleum Company; and representing the Egyptian Petrochemicals Holding Company, Ms. Dina Dawoud, General Manager of Corporate Social Responsibility, in addition to a number of ETHYDCO leaders, representatives of Misr El Kheir Foundation for Development, and parents of the students.

The Zohour Al-Maarefa School development project represents a model to be emulated for fruitful cooperation between the state, the petroleum sector, and civil society organizations, foremost among them Misr El Kheir Foundation. ETHYDCO praised the role of Misr El Kheir as a leading civil society organization in the field of human development, and expressed its aspiration to further strengthen cooperation with the foundation and enhance integration with civil society organizations. This comes in light of ETHYDCO’s implementation of multiple community development programs aimed at improving and developing educational, health, and social services, as well as economic empowerment, particularly in the most needy areas and for underprivileged citizens.

He added that the development of Zohour Al-Maarefa Primary School enhances the quality of education and supports the comprehensive development process, thereby improving citizens’ quality of life. He also noted that this project falls within a planned framework aimed at upgrading educational and health services in the areas surrounding the company, in pursuit of comprehensive development.
