In the context of the continuous cooperation between the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, universities, and research institutes, in order to serve the country's objectives in meeting the needs and supporting development projects, and linking scientific research with industry to convert research ideas into economically viable products for the community, the Egyptian Ethylene and Derivatives CO. (ETHYDCO) was keen to participate in the activities of the Second Industry and Environment Conference under the patronage of Dr. Abdel Aziz Qansouh, the President of Alexandria University. The conference was held at the Institute of Graduate Studies and Research at Alexandria University on January 30th and 31st.
The protocol was signed on behalf of ETHYDCO by Chemist Hisham Riad, Chairman of the Company's Board of Directors, and on behalf of the Ministry of Social Solidarity by Dr. Hassan Mustafa, Minister Assistant for Investment and Community Service, accompanied by a high-level delegation from the Ministry, including Mr. Louay Hassan, Advisor for the Minister of Social Solidarity, and Ms. Maha El-Hafnawy, Head of the Central Administration, along with several other ministry representatives.
The protocol was also signed by Eng. Salah Riad, ECHEM Assistant Chairman for HSE, and Eng. Medhat Shaaban, Chairman Assistant of the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation for Social Responsibility.
The signing ceremony was attended by several representatives from ETHYDCO and managers of corporate social responsibility in various petroleum companies.
The signing of this protocol comes as part of the petroleum sector's strategy, which attributes great importance to corporate social responsibility between sector companies and their partners, with the aim of achieving sustainable development and developing local communities. This initiative receives special support and attention from the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Eng. Tarek El Molla, and is closely monitored by the Egyptian Petrochemicals Holding Company and the General Petroleum Corporation, with unlimited cooperation from petroleum sector companies.
The Egyptian Ethylene and Derivatives (ETHYDCO) places great emphasis on corporate social responsibility in its implementation, especially in the areas of human development, education, and health. ETHYDCO is committed to achieving this through partnerships with various entities, whether governmental, civil, or private.
Dr. Hassan Mustafa, Minister Assistant of Social Solidarity, praised the significant and important role played by petroleum sector companies in the field of community development. He noted that the cooperation protocol signed today with ETHYDCO serves as a model for collaboration in the field of corporate social responsibility and aims to support a sector that is dear to our hearts, mainly people with disabilities.
Under this protocol, ETHYDCO will be responsible for purchasing physiotherapy equipment and improving the efficiency of the Al-Amiriya Social Administration building, transforming it into a fully equipped center for the rehabilitation and treatment of people with disabilities. The Ministry of Social Solidarity will provide services free of charge, especially to beneficiaries of the Takaful and Karama program.
The development of this center to provide rehabilitation services is an urgent necessity, as the nearest rehabilitation center is still under construction and is located 42 kilometers away. The number of visitors to this center is estimated at approximately 3,373 individuals
