In the context of the continuous cooperation between the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, universities, and research institutes, in order to serve the country's objectives in meeting the needs and supporting development projects, and linking scientific research with industry to convert research ideas into economically viable products for the community, the Egyptian Ethylene and Derivatives CO. (ETHYDCO) was keen to participate in the activities of the Second Industry and Environment Conference under the patronage of Dr. Abdel Aziz Qansouh, the President of Alexandria University. The conference was held at the Institute of Graduate Studies and Research at Alexandria University on January 30th and 31st.
ETHYDCO’S participation extended beyond its wide delegation, as it provided its support as an official sponsor of the conference. The conference addressed in its sessions the most important problems facing the industrial sector, as well as future challenges in light of multiple variables, including climate-related issues, compliance with environmental standards, energy transition challenges, waste management and recycling, environmental impact assessment, and discussion of social and legal aspects, as well as how to provide outstanding graduates who meet the requirements of the current and future job market.
On behalf of Chemist Hisham Riad, the company's CEO, Chemist Fathy Ragab, the General manager of Total Quality, gave a speech highlighting ETHYDCO as an environmentally friendly company and its role in strengthening and consolidating partnerships with universities and scientific institutions, and signing many cooperation protocols with several of them. Eng. Ahmed Shoman from the Marketing General Department, Eng. Mustafa El-Gedawy from the Utilities General Department, and Chemist Mohamed Abdel Nasser from the Polyethylene Department also presented papers during the conference sessions, addressing the most important issues presented and discussed, which was deeply appreciated by the attendees.
A documentary film was also presented to introduce ETHYDCO and its economic and societal role.
