In an unprecedented achievement for the Egyptian Ethylene and Derivatives Company (ETHYDCO), the company has reached a new level of excellence in operational safety by obtaining the Operational Safety Management Performance Certificate at the highest level which is Level 7. This follows a comprehensive evaluation by Det Norske Veritas (DNV), one of the world’s leading expertise firms in this field, conducted from January 19 to 30, 2025. ETHYDCO is now the first Egyptian company to earn this certification at such an advanced level.
This accomplishment places ETHYDCO among the elite global companies implementing operational safety systems. Previously, in 2020/2021, the company was assessed by the same firm (DNV) and certified at Level 6.
This new milestone serves as official recognition that ETHYDCO’s operational safety management systems meet international standards and requirements while fulfilling the company’s vision and policy of continuous improvement in operational safety management.

On this occasion, Chemist Hisham Riyad, Chairman and Managing Director of ETHYDCO, congratulated the company’s employees on this accomplishment. He praised the exceptional efforts of the Occupational Health and Safety Department, the Operational Safety Management Team, members of the Higher and Executive Operational Safety Committees, and all departments that contributed to this success.
Notably, in their final report issued on February 29, 2025, DNV auditors commended ETHYDCO’s outstanding efforts and exemplary implementation of operational safety systems, which align with global standards and requirements. They also highlighted the company’s strong safety culture and commitment to enhancing risk management systems, ensuring the protection of its assets, equipment, and facilities.
