In alignment with the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources' strategy for social responsibility and sustainable development, Ethydco and EPROM participated in the National Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries conference in Alexandria under the theme “Uniting Efforts for a Green Future.” The conference addressed environmental challenges posed by plastic waste and its impact on marine ecosystems, in the presence of industry leaders, academics, and specialists.
Mr. Hisham Riyad, Chairman of Ethydco, delivered the opening speech, emphasizing the company's role and commitment in addressing environmental pollution through recycling and circular economy practices. He outlined Ethydco’s efforts in developing a comprehensive waste management system, producing recycled polyethylene, and exporting it.Conference sessions covered innovation in industry alongside the involvement of environmental agencies, highlighting the importance of sustainable solutions for enhancing environmental practices. Discussions further addressed solid waste challenges, industry-led initiatives, scientific techniques, and community efforts to combat plastic pollution and mitigate its environmental impacts.
